The MSc in Financial Communication is offered jointly by the Faculty of Economics, and the Faculty of Communication Sciences. This full-time study programme of the Università della Svizzera italiana, USI (also known as University of Lugano) is held in Lugano - Switzerland, comprises 120 ECTS spread over 4 semesters (usual duration 2 years) and is entirely offered in English.
Managing information is paramount in nowadays business. Being a top specialized domain, Finance a precise language of its own. Yet, figures don't speak for themselves: as the impact of the financial information gets bigger everyday, so does the disparity between experts and their public. The aim of the Master in Financial Communication is to form specialists able to bridge this knowledge gap by means of advanced communication principles, techniques and skills applied to finance, and to put the information "at work" in order to foster appropriate investment decisions. Such specialists will become an effective interface between the financial system and its stakeholders, being able to translate the "rules of the game" to each and all categories of "players" within the financial market.
By emphasizing the role of communication in finance - a domain pre-eminently quantitative, yet fundamentally relying on the human interaction - the Master in Financial Communication represents a Europe-wide unique initiative within the University offer of this level. Its twofold educational approach opens the way and puts a new name to a profession as old as the financial system itself, that is: the financial communicator.
